
September 25, 1999 marked the official debut of Zig Zag Ballet as resident dance company of Stamford Center for the Arts in Stamford, Connecticut. Under the artistic direction of Brett Raphael, the company features ten leading dancers devoted to performing works by today's most established and emerging choreographers..
The repertoire includes works by Raphael,
Michael Uthoff, Ann Marie DeAngelo, Joel Schnee, Lar Lubovitch, Ramon Oller,
Olivier Tarpaga, Darrell Moultrie.
ZIG ZAG Ballet's plans include an annual season of new
works in Stamford and touring through-out the New England/Mid-Atlantic regions
and beyond. The Summer of 2001 marked ZIG ZAG's debut at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival
and a return to the Untermyer Perfor-ming Arts Festival in Yonkers, New York. In
January 2002, the company performed at the APAP conference in New York City and
made its New York
debut in May 2003 at Danny Kaye Playhouse, New York City where it performed world premieres
by Michael Uthoff, Miguel Gutierrez, and Brett Raphael. Zig Zag Ballet premiered
a new work by Olivier Tarpaga, entitled Visages, for its latest
season at Stamford Center for the Arts in February 2008.
Single performance fees range from $7,500-$10,000 depending on the venue and travel/housing costs. Package rates are also available for master classes, workshops, and week-long choreographic residencies.
